Knowing and Consciousness

Knowing is different from consciousness.
Knowing is a Self aspect.
Self can know anything.

Consciousness always involves
something other than Self.
There is an exchange.
There is always a relationship.
This is directly observable.
Be in a quiet state and just observe your own experience.

You can know something without being currently conscious of it. For instance, you know your name, but you were not conscious of it until just now. The difference between knowing and consciousness is a critical point which is often overlooked.

Knowing is empty, devoid of experience. Consciousness is full, the essence of experience.

One must exist to be conscious, but there must also be something outside oneself to be conscious of. You can't be conscious by yourself.

It is helpful to separate knowingness and consciousness to develop the clarity of thought necessary for Self-Enlightenment.
